O. J. Ferguson

Olin J. Ferguson (1875-1965) contributed greatly to the development and expansion of engineering at Nebraska. A native son, Ferguson received his degree from the University in 1903. He went on to work for General Electric and to teach at other institutions, but in 1912 he returned to Nebraska to serve as Chair of Electrical Engineering. In 1920 he became Dean of the College of Engineering, a position he held until 1945, when he returned to the department, once again as chair. He retired in 1949. Ferguson was admired by faculty and popular with students. His column in the Nebraska Blueprint provides insight into Ferguson's personality, and his commitment to the College and its students.
