Crops Laboratory (Kiesselbach)

Theodore A. Kiesselbach served as a faculty member in the Agronomy Department from 1912-1952. He received all of his degrees from the University of Nebraska, earning his PhD in Agronomy in 1908. Kiesselbach was a tireless researcher and author, and was recognized worldwide for his publication "The Structure and Reproduction of Corn", published in 1949 as an NU Experimental Station Bulletin. It became a seminal reference for plant scientists. Kiesselbach's work throughout his career helped pave the way for development of the hybrid seed industry.

T. A. Kiesselbach retired in 1952 and died in 1964. The Kiesselbach Crop Research Laboratory was named in his honor in 1969. A 50th anniversary edition of "The Structure and Reproduction of Corn"? is still in print.
